PURPOSE: To vary the focal length in a wide range by joining a substrate supporting a front lens unit and the substrate of supporting arm of a rear lens unit, which goes to and returns from a photographic optical path, into one body and providing a shutter between both units.
CONSTITUTION: A coil 106 omitted in the figure which an electromagnetic driving device 100 in a barrel 110 incorporates is operated by the signal from a camera body, and a gear plate 220 is shaked to repeat stepping in accordance with the distance measuring signal, and a photographic lens 241 set to a cam member 230 of a front lens unit 240 is focused. The front lens unit 240 is joined with a rear lens unit 140 into one body by a guide pin 112. When the lens barrel 110 is pressed into a prescribed position of the camera body, an arm 127 is brought into contact with a backplate 128, and gears 122 and 143 and a supporting arm 142 are interlocked with each other to evacuate the lens 141 to the outside of the optical axis, and the telephoto mode is switched to the standard mode. The shutter is incorporated in the electromagnetic driving device 100 and is omitted in the figure. Thus, the focal length is varied in a wide range.
