PURPOSE: To attain high speed operation and low-power consumption, in the variable frequency divider circuit suitable for integrated circuit.

CONSTITUTION: The circuit is provided with plural flip-flop circuits 14, 15, and 17 generating frequency divider signals and first and second NOR circuits 13 and 16 connecting the prescribed flip-flop circuit and forming a feedback loop. The positive phase output of the flip-flop taking out the output signal through a first feedback loop wiring 18 to one input terminal and the positive phase output of the flip-flop provided to change the frequency through a second feedback loop wiring 19 to the other input terminal are connected to the first NOR circuit 13. The inverse phase output of the flip-flop taking out the output signal to one input terminal is connected to the second NOR circuit 16. In the variable frequency divider circuit where the frequency switching signal is connected to the other input terminal, the first NOR circuit 13 and a flip-flop circuit 15 to be connected through the feedback loop wiring 18 are arranged to be a ring shape.
