To realize a frequency divider capable of increasing an operation frequency to a counter operation frequency inside a variable frequency divider.

A frequency dividing data generating section 12 consists of ring counters 121-124, and data according to a desired frequency dividing number or a duty factor are provided as an initial value. The frequency-divided data are inputted into a four-bit D flip chip 13 while synchronizing with Q1 of a two-bit counter 11. A multiplexer 14 selects the data from the data stored in the flip flop 13 on the basis of the data inputted from the counter 11 and outputs the selected data. The above operations are repeated by shifting the frequency- divided data of the counter 121-124 while synchronizing with the Q1 of the counter 11.
