Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pressure loss of working fluid in a variable-length connecting rod having one piston mechanism.SOLUTION: A variable-length connecting rod 6 includes: a connecting rod body 31; an eccentric member 32 rotatably mounted to the connecting rod body; one piston mechanism 33 having a hydraulic cylinder 33a and a hydraulic piston 33b; and a connection member 45 for connecting the eccentric member and the hydraulic piston with each other. The hydraulic cylinder includes a first hydraulic chamber 33d and a second hydraulic chamber 33e partitioned by a hydraulic piston. The variable-length connecting rod further includes a flow direction switching mechanism 35 disposed in the connecting rod body and configured to be switched between a first state of prohibiting a flow of the working fluid from the first hydraulic chamber to the second hydraulic chamber and allowing a flow of the working fluid from the second hydraulic chamber to the first hydraulic chamber and a second state of allowing a flow of the working fluid from the first hydraulic chamber to the second hydraulic chamber and prohibiting a flow of the working fluid from the second hydraulic chamber to the first hydraulic chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
