PURPOSE: To provide a variable resistor, the connecting sections of which are improved in reliability, by increasing the connection strength between electrodes and lead terminals.

CONSTITUTION: This variable resistor, in which lead terminals 1 are respectively connected to current collecting electrode bodies 3 formed on an insulating aluminum substrate 2 by thermocompression bonding, has holes 1a near the connecting sections of the terminals 1 at parts covered with a resin case 5 formed by insert molding. Since the holes 1a are provided near the connecting sections of the terminals 1 with the electrode bodies 3, the strength of lead terminal connecting sections 1b can be improved and, after the resin case is molded, the bodies 3 and terminals 1 are hardly disconnected from each other at their connecting sections even when the terminals are pulled at the time of bending leads, since the terminals 1 are sufficiently fixed by the resin of the case 5 which deeply gets into the holes 1a at the time of molding the case 5. Therefore, the reliability of the connecting sections can be improved.
