To provide a variable valve gear of an internal combustion engine capable of attaining both of preferable lubrication and motion.
The variable valve gear 10 adopted to a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine 1 and in which valve opening characteristics of a valve 18 can be changed includes a control shaft 22 rotated and driven by an electric motor 65 and in which a main oil passage 22a is formed inside along its axial direction, a control arm 24 fixed at the control shaft 22 and changing the valve opening characteristics of the valve 18 of a cylinder 2 corresponding to change of rotation angle depending on rotation position of the control shaft 22, a fixing pin 52 fixing each control arm 24 to the control shaft 22, and a hole 22c for fixing the pin provided at the control shaft 22 to cross the main oil passage 22a and where each fixing pin 52 is inserted. Each fixing pin 52 has an oil passage communicating hole 52e for communicating a main oil passage 22a on the upstream side with the main oil passage 22a on the downstream side regarding the fixing pin 52.
