Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable control response characteristic by driving a control shaft in rotation to a target control shaft operating angle position according to an operating angle signal of the control shaft disposed substantially parallel to a cam shaft of a variable valve system, and correcting the operating angle variation of the control shaft according to the non-linear characteristic input from the engine valve side. SOLUTION: A control shaft 16 is pivoted on the upper position a cam shaft 13 rotated, interlocking with an engine, and a pair of rocker arms 18 are supported on the shaft through a control cam 17 to be freely oscillated. An operating angle of the control shaft 16 is detected by an operating angle sensor, and according to the detection signal, the control shaft 16 is feedback-controlled to be driven in rotation to a target control shaft operating angle position according to the engine operating condition. Further to correct an operating angle variation of the control shaft 16 depending on the non-linear characteristic input of the cam shaft 13 side due to the reaction force of a valve spring 33 for energizing an intake valve 12 in the valve closing direction, the feed-forward control is performed according to the rotating speed of the engine and the detected operating angle of the control shaft 16.
