Title:
VARISTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3039224
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make possible the integrated baking between a molded item and an Ag or Ag-Pd electrode by specifying the contents of bismuth and antimony in a varistor element.
CONSTITUTION: A varistor element 1 is made of a substance, where bismuth, ammonium, and antimony are added to lead oxides, so that the content of bismuth may be 0.1-4.0mol% in terms of bismuth oxides and that the mol ratio of antimony to the bismuth oxides may be (Sb2O3/Bi2O3)≤1.0 in terms of antimony oxides. Hereby, it becomes possible to bake the molded item of the varistor element 1 at a low temperature of, for example, 750-960°C, so the integrated baking with Ag or Ag-Pd electrodes 2a and 2b can be made. As a result, the heat energy accompanying the baking can be reduced, and further this obviates the necessity to provide an electrode baking process separately.
