Title:
VARISTOR MODULE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01171202
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the destruction of an IC module and unnecessitate complex manufacturing processes, by connecting one end of each of two or more varistors to a common terminal, and connecting the other end of each of the varistors to independent terminals.

CONSTITUTION: The one end of each of two or more varistors 1a-1f is connected to a common terminal 3, and the other end of each of the varistors 1aW1f is connected to one of independent terminals 5aW5f. Between the independent terminals 5a and 5b, the varistors 1a and 1b are connected in series via a common electrode 3 connected to a grounding terminal 21. Therefore, when an excessive potential difference generates between the independent terminals 5a and 5b, and the potential difference becomes higher than or equal to twice the operating voltage of the single varistor, a clip circuit is formed between the independent terminals 5a and 5b, thereby protecting an IC module 7 from abnormal voltage.
