Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ink which controls roller stripping, has excellent fluidity during hydration, emulsion suitability and luster of printed article, is prepared without using formaldehyde and an alkyl phenol being one of harmful substances from a resin production process and has ink performances and printability comparable with those of conventional ink using a rosin-modified phenol resin.
SOLUTION: This varnish comprises a resin C which is a reaction product of a hydrocarbon resin A and an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or its anhydride B and has 500-10,000 weight-average molecular weight and 2.0-35.0 mg KOH/g acid value. This printing ink is obtained by using the varnish.
