PURPOSE: To identify the secondary time constant of an induction motor, to reduce dependence on motor secondary time constant of vector control, and to obtain an estimated value of speed of the motor which is good in arithmetic precision at low speeds and low frequencies.
CONSTITUTION: The terminal voltage and current of an induction motor 18 are detected, and an exciting energy portion computing element 14 calculates the energy accumulated in exciting portion inductance. A command 16 is subtracted from the calculated value to find the error, which is computed by a PI-computing element 17 and added to a set value 7 which is the reciprocal of a secondary time constant, so that the sum is applied to an angular frequency computing element 8. Consequently a loop, including the PI-computing element 17, operates in such a way that the excited energy error becomes small, and the reciprocal of the secondary time constant then approximates a true value. Further, the exciting energy portion computing element 14 is replaced by a computing element which computes an instantaneous reactive power actual value and an estimated value respectively, so that an estimated value of the speed can be found.
