To provide a vegetable transplanter having a simple structure by which many species of seedlings are transplanted and worker's labor is reduced as much as possible and provide a transplantation method.
The vegetable transplanter is equipped with a shutter 15 constituted to lay seedlings 100 in a lateral state and be freely opened and closed, an opening and closing means 15a for opening and closing the shutter 15 in a constant period, an opener 10 installed under the shutter 15 in the front side of proceeding direction and a pair of hillers 45 under the shutter in the rear side of the proceeding direction. The center of the shutter in the proceeding direction is installed above the position where the rear ends 45a of the pair of hillers 45 and the front end 10d of the opener 10 are overlapped, therefore, species and sizes of the seedlings 100 are not limited and the seedlings 100 can be planted in an almost upright state. The opening and closing motions of the shutter 15 are carried out by transmitting the rotative drive power of a grounding wheel 2 and the press force of a tension spring 19, therefore, the structure is brought to be simple.
