PURPOSE: To enhance the responsiveness of an engine upon abrupt acceleration, with the use of an accelerator control system in which a throttle valve is remotely controlled by means of a servo-system, by determining a desired value of throttle valve opening degree in accordance with the opening degree of the throttle valve and the increment of the throttle valve opening degree which correspond respectively to the operated amount and operating speed of an accelerator operating element.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided an operated amount detecting means (a) for detecting the operated amount (l) of an accelerator operating element (b) and an operating speed detecting means (c) for detecting the operating speed Δl/Δt of the operating element (b), and the outputs thereof are delivered to a desired value converting means (d) in which a first characteristic giving the relationship between the operated amount and the throttle valve opening degree (θ) and a second characteristic giving the relationship between the operating speed Δl/Δt and the increment Δθ of the throttle valve opening degree are set. Further, a throttle valve opening degree (θ) and an increment Δθ of the throttle opening degree which correspond to the operated amount (l) and the operating speed Δl/Δt which are detected, and the sum of both values is issued as a desired value of throttle valve opening degree. A servo drive means (e) for a throttle valve (f) is controlled in accordance with this desired value.
