To provide a vehicle air conditioning device 10 that performs efficient defrosting in a short time.
A vehicle air conditioning device 10 includes: a compressor 21 for compressing a heat exchange medium; an outdoor heat exchanger 24 for receiving the heat exchange medium and exchanging heat with the outside of a vehicle compartment; and an evaporator 14 for receiving the heat exchange medium and exchanging heat with the inside of a vehicle compartment. The vehicle air conditioning device 10 is able to perform: a defrosting cooling operation (B) in which the heat exchange medium that has been compressed by the compressor 21 is made to flow into the evaporator 14 and absorb heat, and to then flow into the outdoor heat exchanger 24 and release heat; and a hot gas operation (A) in which the heat exchange medium that has been compressed by the compressor 21 is made to flow into the outdoor heat exchanger 24 and release heat without absorbing heat in the evaporator 14. The defrosting cooling operation (B) or the hot gas operation (A) is selected, in a defrosting operation for defrosting the outdoor heat exchanger 24.
