Abstract:

PURPOSE: To optimize braking-force distribution not only in the rightward/ leftward directions but also in the forward/backward directions and stabilize turning behavior, by providing a measure for giving a braking force to a rear- side external wheel on-turn in addition to a front-side external wheel on-turn when a driving condition is judged to accord with a prescribed condition by a driving-condition judging measure in regard to turn behavior.
CONSTITUTION: A coefficient Kv being derived from a velocity V given by a vehicle speed sensor 56, a coefficient Kg being derived from a transverse acceleration Gy given by a transverse-acceleration sensor 58, a yaw rate r being given by a yaw-rate sensor 60a, a coefficient Ks being computed using a rear-wheel slip angle βr, a coefficient Kw being computed using a road-surface friction coefficient μ given by a μ-sensor 66, a rear wheel coefficient Kr is computed as a product of these. A control quantity SCr for a rear-side external wheel on-turn is computed based on the spin value SV. When a driving condition accords with a prescribed condition, that is, when the rear wheel coefficient Kr is not zero, a deceleration effect is enhanced by giving a braking force to a rear-side external wheel on-turn in addition to a front-side external wheel on-turn. Deterioration of turn behavior is thus suppressed.
