Abstract:
To appropriately decelerate a vehicle that is about to depart to a branch road.SOLUTION: A vehicle control apparatus (230), for use in executing a deceleration support for a vehicle (10) at a curve existing in a branch road branching from a through-traffic lane, includes: determination means (231) for determining whether the vehicle is departing from the aforementioned lane to the branch road; and deceleration instruction means (232) for issuing, under a condition in which a turn signal light is lit on the vehicle, in a case where the vehicle is determined to be departing to the branch road, an instruction to start decelerating the vehicle while it is traveling in the through-traffic lane, and issuing an instruction to complete decelerating the vehicle to a targeted speed (Vk) that is suitable to the curve before the vehicle enters the curve existing in the branch road. The deceleration instruction means issues the instruction so that a rate of deceleration in a period in which the vehicle travels in the through-traffic lane is lower than a rate thereof in a period in which the vehicle travels in the branch road.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
