Abstract:
To produce a high precision map without annoying a driver.SOLUTION: A vehicle controller that is installed in a vehicle includes a surrounding environment recognition unit that recognizes a surrounding environment of an own vehicle and outputs recognition information, an own vehicle position estimation unit that estimates the position of an own vehicle and outputs own vehicle position information, a map information production unit that produces map information on the basis of the recognition information and own vehicle position information, a map information memory unit that stores the map information, and a map information production initiation determination unit that determines initiation of production of the map information. When the map information production initiation determination unit detects passage of a predesignated arbitrary point, the map information production unit initiates production of the map information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
