In the vehicle control device, an abnormality determination means determines whether abnormality is recognized in the vehicle or not from information detected by an information detection means based on the predetermined abnormality determination condition. From the information detected by the information detection means, a returning determination means determines whether the abnormality of the vehicle is eliminated or not based on the predetermined returning determination condition. A condition varying means varies at least one of the abnormality determination condition or the returning determination condition based on the traveling situation of the vehicle detected by a traveling situation detection means.
