The vehicle control device includes starters 10, 10' having first gears 11, 11' coupled to a crank shaft of an engine 1, and second gears 13, 13' coupled to starting motors 12, 12' and engaged with the first gears 11, 11', and rotating the crank shaft when starting the engine to make the engine do cranking; impact detecting means 20, 20' detecting impact applied on the first gears 11, 11' and the second gears 13, 13' when the engine is started by the starters 10, 10'; abnormality forcasting means 30, 30' issuing abnormality warning signals of the first gears 11, 11' and the second gears 13, 13' according to the detection values of the impact detecting means 20, 20'; and a warning means 40 receiving the abnormality warning signals of the abnormality forcasting means 30, 30' and warning abnormality.
