To provide a vehicle control device capable of achieving both of calculation performance and high reliability.
By performing execution control of a functional module in accordance with a safety level, the function of the vehicle control device is restricted to the minimum required one which is needed for safety of a vehicle, upon the failure of a part of a calculation processing part, and reliability of restricted functions is enhanced, and thereby, reliability upon the failure is improved. Further, when the failure occurs on a part of cores in a microcomputer in which a plurality of cores are incorporated, there is such a possibility that the failure extends to a part other than the core determined as a failure. When the vehicle control device is applied, the calculation processing of the core is restricted to the function necessary for the minimal travelling and consequently, even when the effect of the failure of the part extends to the other part, the effect of the failure can be minimized.
