To reduce power consumption of ECU in a vehicle including the ECU communicable with a service tool operated by a user.
The plug-in ECU provided in the electric vehicle includes a main microcomputer controlling charging of a battery by using an external power supply and a sub-microcomputer starting the main microcomputer. The sub-microcomputer starts the main microcomputer when an IG switch is turned on and a connection confirmation signal α is received from the service tool operated by the user. When a prescribed time elapses, the sub-microcomputer transmits a request signal Sreq to the main microcomputer. When the main microcomputer receives the request signal Sreq, it transmits a response signal β to the service tool and communication with the service tool is started.
