Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle control device that, during idle stop control during travel, prevents engines stops and restarts that are unexpected by the driver and is capable of improving fuel consumption and reducing exhaust gas, etc., without causing discomfort for the driver. The vehicle control device (5) performs idle stop control during travel, whereby the engine is stopped during vehicle travel, when prescribed engine stop conditions have been met, and the engine is restarted when prescribed engine restart conditions have been met after the engine has stopped. The vehicle control device comprises: slight pedal-application detection units (4, 7) that detect the slight application of an accelerator pedal (24) or a brake pedal (27); and a control unit (50) that controls the stopping or restarting of the engine (10) on the basis of the detection results from the slight pedal-application detection units (4, 7).
