To provide a vehicle control system for generating an irregular state in a running state of a vehicle when a driver takes a nap during running so as to prevent the driver from taking a nap.
ECU 11 calculates a target throttle value TH with the most-suitable degree of opening of a throttle valve 14 in reference to an accelerator information of an accelerator opening degree sensor 11 and adjusts a degree of opening of the throttle valve 14 to the target throttle value through an actuator 13. When a napping detection means SD detects a driver's napping state, a hazard lamp L1 and all the indicators L2 are forcedly lit. Further, both throttle values (TH-α) and (TH+α) are calculated with a variable width α corresponding to a transmission ratio at the present time and then the throttle valve is repeatedly and alternatively controlled with the aforesaid two values. With this operation, the irregular state occurs in the running state of the vehicle and the driver can be waked up. The irregular state can be produced in the running state of the vehicle also through ignition time control, fuel injection control, suspension control and intake/exhaust control and transmission ratio control or the like and the driver can be waked up.
