Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce both the developing period and the cost of a vehicle controller which performs the mutual communication of data between an OTP.ROM type microcomputer and a mask ROM type microcomputer via the serial communication. CONSTITUTION:Only a knocking control program is transformed into a mask and stored in a mask ROM type microcomputer 12, and the characteristic data necessary for control are all stored in an OTP.ROM type microcomputer 11. The characteristic data are sent from the microcomputer 11 before the control of the microcomputer 12 is started and stored in a memory 12a of the microcomputer 12 which is not transformed into a mask yet. A fact whether this transfer is normal or not is checked. If so, the control of the microcomputer 12 is started. Thus the microcomputer 12 can be developed even before decision of the characteristic data and also can be used in common to various types of control programs. Therefore the cost of a vehicle controller is reduced.
