To provide a vehicle door lock system manufacturable at lower cost than before.
With a slide door left half-open, a motor output shaft of a latch driving motor 41M is rotated in one direction to rotate a latch 20 in the locking direction, thereby shifting the slide door to the totally closed state. When a handle is operated with the slide door put in the totally closed state, the motor output shaft of the latch driving motor 41M is rotated in the other direction to move a pole 30 to a release position against the frictional force to the latch 20, thereby shifting the slide door in the open state. The latch driving motor 41M is thus used as both a power source for changing the slide door from the half-open state to the totally closed state and a power source for assisting the handle operation in opening the slide door, whereby the manufacturing cost and weight can be held down.
