To provide a controller for miniaturizing a differential mechanism whose differential action is operable, and for improving fuel costs in deceleration traveling.
A speed change mechanism 10 is switched to a stepless speed change status and stepped speed change status by installing a changeover clutch C0 or a changeover brake B0 so that it is possible to provide a drive unit equipped with both merits of the fuel cost improving effects of a transmission whose change gear ratio is electrically changed and the high transmission efficiency of a gearwheel gear for mechanically transmitting power. Also, it is possible to change regeneration amounts by a hybrid control means 52 based on whether or not a differential part 11 is put in a stepless speed change status during deceleration traveling. Thus, it is possible to increase the regeneration amounts, and to improve fuel costs compared with such a case that regeneration is executed with uniformly set regeneration amounts R according to such a non-stepless speed change status that the pull/sliding torque of an engine 8 is increased.
