Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive unit assuring sufficient driving force and having good mounting property with suppressed outside dimension in the axial and the radial directions.
SOLUTION: This vehicle drive unit 1 includes a motor mechanism 20, a reduction mechanism 40 and a differential mechanism 30 contained in a housing 10 and a pair of coaxially placed output shafts 51 and 52 for transmitting output differentially distributed to a right and left driving wheels, respectively. In the drive unit 1, the inside of the housing 10 is partitioned into a motor mechanism containing part 10A and a reduction mechanism containing part 10B by a partition 11B. The differential mechanism 30 is disposed within an output shaft 24 of the motor mechanism 20 disposed in the motor mechanism-containing portion 10A to reduce the axial direction of the drive unit 1. The reduction mechanism 40 comprising a planetary gear unit 41 is disposed in the reduction mechanism-containing portion 10B to allow a larger diameter of an internal gear 43 without being restricted by the output shaft 24 to assure a large reduction ratio.
