To provide a driving device for a vehicle capable of reducing energy for maintaining the lock of a motor, and suppressing the occurrence of a shock in the case of the lock of the motor.
The driving device 2 is provided with a lock mechanism 30 configured to make a connection member 21 integrally rotatable with a first motor generator 4 engaged with a case 17, and to switch an engagement state in which the first generator 4 is locked and a release state that the lock is released, and to maintain the engagement state without using the power of an actuator 32 by using torque in the forward rotating direction generated in the connection member 21 after the release state is shifted to the engagement state, and to permit the rotation of the connection member 21 in the backward rotating direction. The first generator 4 is controlled so that the connection member can be put in such a state that the connection member 21 rotates backward when the shifting operation to shift the release state to the engagement state is performed by the actuator 32.
