Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle electronic control unit which can be reduced in development cost and manufacture cost and made smallsized.
SOLUTION: Check data X1 to Xn stored previously in a ROM in a sub-CPU 52 are sent out cyclically to a main CPU 51 through a communication line 77. The main CPU 51 follows a predetermined arithmetic procedure and then sends the result data Y1 to Yn to the sub-CPU 52 through a communication line 78. Then solutions Z1 to Zn stored in a ROM in the sub-CPU 52 are compared with the result data Y1 to Yn from the main CPU 51 and when they do not match each other, a CPU core 64 of the main CPU 51 decides abnormality and sends a fail-safe process signal out to an OR circuit 56 through a communication line 57. Consequently, the OR circuit 56 turns off a fail-safe relay 59 to turn on an alarm lamp 60.
