Abstract:
To increase the energy absorption amount when bending deformation from the outer side to the inner side in a vehicle width direction occurs at the time of a side collision of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle frame member 10 is configured such that a connection wall 36 and an opposite wall 26 are high strength portions. Further, a pair of flanges 32, a pair of flanges 22, horizontal walls 50 (inner portions 52, outer portions 53) each including an inner portion 66, ridge line portions 33, and ridge line portion 23 are low strength portions. Thus, the amount of deformation to fracture of the vehicle frame member 10 increases, and a load against buckling of the vehicle frame member also increases. Consequently, the energy absorption amount (an integral value of a load-displacement curve to fracture of the vehicle frame member 10) increases when bending deformation from the outer side to the inner side in a vehicle width direction occurs at the time of a side collision of a vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
