Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably perform vehicle group traveling and to smoothly and stably perform speed control especially by providing a means for transmitting kinetic information such as the position and speed of the target vehicle to a following vehicle and allowing every following vehicle to perform the vehicle group traveling control of one own vehicle based on the kinetic information.
SOLUTION: Each vehicle in a vehicle group, for which an automatic travel start switch 12 is turned on, specifies the target vehicle to be a reference in the case of performing vehicle group raveling. A control plan module 2 of a specified target vehicle has a function as a speed plan preparing means and based on speed command information corresponding to the traveling area of the vehicle supplied from a leak coaxial cable (LCX cable) through a communication module 1, the speed plan is prepared for specifying the relation of traveling position and speed of the vehicle on the traveling route. A control plan module 2 on the side of the following vehicle has a target inter-vehicle distance calculating means and based on the kinetic information from inter-vehicle communication, the position, speed and following order of the target vehicle are found so that the target inter-vehicle distance is calculated.
