To provide a vehicle headlight which secures distance visibility in running along a highway and yet provides no dazzle to on-coming vehicles or pedestrians by restraining the maximum light intensity in running along a normal road in a simple structure.
In the vehicle headlight 10 equipped with a light-shielding member 20 zoning a light source 11; a reflecting face 12; a projection lens 13; and a cutoff line, the light-shielding member consists of a first light-shielding member 21 comparatively thick concerning a light-axis direction, and a second light-shielding member 22 comparatively thin concerning a light-axis direction. The vehicle headlight 10 is so structured that, in running along the normal road, the first light-shielding member is inserted into a light path at a comparatively low position against the light axis to form a low-beam light distribution pattern for normal road running, and that the second light-shielding member is inserted into the light path at a comparatively low position against the light axis to form a low-beam light distribution pattern for highway running.
