For the vehicle headlight, a light source image forming mechanism forms a light source image using irradiation light of a light source. A projection lens projects the formed light source image on a virtual vertical screen. The light source image forming mechanism includes a first movable shade 52, a second movable shade 54, and a third movable shade 56 arranged in parallel each in free movement between a closed position where light incident from a reflector into the projection lens is inhibited and an open position where inhibition of light incident into the projection lens is released. A boundary shade 70 is provided so as to be along upper ends of the movable shades arranged in parallel at the closed position, and forms a boundary line of the light source image when these movable shades are at the closed position.
