Abstract:

To enhance the responsive properties in vehicle height adjustment and save heat energy by minimizing heat dissipation from the vehicle height adjusting device in a hydraulic shock absorber for a vehicle.

The hydraulic shock absorber D for a vehicle comprises a cylinder 11 filled with a shock absorbing oil 24, a piston 17 with a throttle 25 and a piston rod 15 integrated with the piston 17. A damping force is generated by the viscosity resistance of the shock absorbing oil 24 which is made to pass through the throttle 25 by the movement of the piston 17. A casing 26 having a pressure chamber 28 filled with a vehicle height adjusting oil 29 therein is provided to the hydraulic shock absorber D, and a pressure generating means 31, by which a pressure medium such as a substitute flon is heated with an electric heater and expanded and the pressure thus generated is transmitted to the pressure chamber 28 to increase the vehicle height, is provided separated from the hydraulic shock absorber D. This minimizes the heat which is generated by the electric heater of the pressure generating means 31 and dissipates to the hydraulic shock absorber D side, thereby enhancing the responsive properties in the vehicle height adjustment by rapidly heating the pressure medium, as well as saving the heat energy.
