This on-vehicle measuring instrument 10 is equipped with the pointers 20 rotating corresponding to a measured value and the pilot lamps 30 flashing on and off corresponding to the position of the pointer 20, and has a self-diagnosis function for confirming the state of the pointers 20 and the pilot lamps 30 as the need arises. In the measuring instrument, the self-diagnosis function has a function for rotating the fuel gage pointer 21 among the pointers 20 up to the position where the fuel residual quantity alarm lamp 31 among the pilot lamps 30 is switched on or switched off.
