PURPOSE: To make, specially, a driver to recognize help information displayed on a display unit with simple constitution by making correspond said information to information on a main screen without any disturbance to the normal driving of a driver.
CONSTITUTION: When a supplementary display command, i.e., a display request for held information is made (step S2) while map information, etc., is displayed on a screen, the help information is superimposed (step S5) on the main screen (normal information screen) and the brightness of the main screen is made lower than normal brightness (step S6) to make the display of the help information attractive while the main screen is held visible as a background screen, so that, specially, the driver can recognize the help information made to correspond visually to the information on the main screen.
