Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately display information on an obstacle existing in the rear by updating the display when the change quantity of the distance between the obstacle existing on the rear side of the vehicle and a driver's own vehicle is larger than a specific prescribed value. SOLUTION: Rear side detection sensors 11 and 12 are respectively provided internally in left and right door mirrors (side mirror) 1 and 2. An electronic control unit(ECU) 10 calculates the distance D between an obstacle such as other left and right vehicles in the rear side of a vehicle and the driver's own vehicle by using image signals from the sensors 11 and 12 and display it as information about the detected obstacle on a head up display(HUD) 13 arranged in front of a driving seat. The ECU 10 sets distance change quantity ΔL that can be recognized by the driver through the side mirrors 1 and 2. And, when the change quantity of the distance D is larger than the set change quantity ΔL, the currently calculated distance D is shown on the HUD 13 based on the change pattern of a set display pitch.
