Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle passenger protection device capable of transmitting accident data to an emergency notification device during occurrence of a vehicle accident with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A vehicle passenger protection device 1 includes: an acceleration sensor 3 detecting occurrence of a vehicle accident; a control unit 2 actuating an airbag 10; a power supply circuit 5 supplying power to the control unit 2; a backup capacitor 6 supplying power to the power supply circuit 5; a memory 9 storing therein accident data 13 on the vehicle accident; a communication circuit 8 for transmitting the accident data 13 to an emergency notification device 20; and a backup circuit 7 for supplying power from a backup battery 26 to the control unit 2. The control unit 2 turns on the backup circuit 7 and transmits the accident data 13 to the emergency notification device 20 via the communication circuit 8 with the power from the backup battery 26 being supplied to the control unit 2 if the acceleration sensor 3 detects the occurrence of a vehicle accident, and turns off the backup circuit 7 after finishing transmitting the accident data 13.
