Abstract:

To enable the maximum gear ratio to be set to a decreased value while ensuring the power transmission efficiency of the power transmission device for a vehicle equipped with a continuously variable transmission using a quadric link mechanism.

The rotation of the crankshaft 32 of an engine E is increased in speed by a speed increasing mechanism I to be transmitted to the input shaft 11 of the continuously variable transmission T. As a result, the fuel economy of the engine E can be improved by ensuring the decreased maximum gear ratio of a power transmission device for a vehicle including the engine E and the continuously variable transmission T while a decrease in power transmission efficiency in a small range of a gear ratio is avoided by increasing the maximum gear ratio of a unit of the continuously variable transmission T. Since the speed increasing mechanism I is disposed near the axial center of the crankshaft 32 of the multi-cylinder engine E, the twist deformation of the crankshaft 32 due to a reaction force load received from the speed increasing mechanism I can be minimized, so that the miniaturization and weight saving of the crankshaft 32 and reduction in vibration and noise can be achieved.
