Abstract:
To provide a vehicle recognition system and a vehicle recognition method, which can stably tracking a heavy machine on the basis of a monitoring camera image.SOLUTION: A vehicle recognition system 1 includes: an imaging section 10 which picks up an image including a heavy machine; and an image processing section 20 which detects movement of the heavy machine from the image picked up by template matching to compare a template image including the heavy machine with the image picked up by the imaging section, and extracts an image area including the heavy machine. The image processing section estimates a position on the image of the extracted image area, updates the extracted image area as a new template image, and extracts the image area including the heavy machine within a range of a predetermined distance from a position in a new image when performing the next template matching on the basis of the updated template image and the new image picked up by the imaging section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
