Abstract:
To expedite a determination process by referring to a recognition result of a surface state of a road in a camera image in determining a type of a surface state of a road with a vehicle traveling thereon.SOLUTION: A road surface state determination device 50 for a vehicle 10 comprises: road surface state determination means which determines a type of a surface state of a road with a vehicle traveling thereon by selecting the same from a plurality of types of the surface states on the basis of a travel state index value; and road surface state image recognition means which recognizes the type of the surface state of the road with the vehicle traveling thereon on the basis of an image taken with imaging means 70 taking the image of the surface of the road with the vehicle traveling thereon in a manner that calculates index values representing possibilities that the type of the road surface state in the image corresponds to each of the plurality of types of surface states and recognizes the type having the largest index value as the type of the surface state corresponding to the same in the image. When the index value of the type of the surface state recognized through the image exceeds a predetermined value, the road surface state determination device determines that the type of the surface state recognized with the road surface state determination means through the image corresponds to an actual type of the surface state of the road with the vehicle traveling thereon.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
