To provide a latch device for vehicle seat, which moves the seat for a vehicle body when operating a ratchet member more securely than ever.

This latch device for vehicle seat is constituted in such a way that a stopper member 50 has a support shaft member 51 in its terminal part, a base plate 10 has a slide guide groove 12, a latch member 20 has an engaging part 25 being engaged with the support shaft member 51, spring members 40 energizing the ratchet member 30 in the direction for bringing the ratchet member 30 closer to the latch member 20 always and letting the latch member 20 retreat and rotating it if the ratchet member 30 comes off the latch member 20 advancing into a cut-out groove 11 are provided in the latch member 20 and the stopper member 50, respectively, and the slide guide groove 12 in the base plate 10 is formed to bring a spring connection part 53 of the stopper member 50 closer to a spring connection part 33 of the ratchet member 30 gradually when the latch member 20 retreats and rotates.
