Abstract:
A steering system for a vehicle is disclosed. The steering system includes variable gear ratio steering apparatus (4), a first ECU (12) for controlling the apparatus (4), an electric power steering apparatus (5), a second ECU for controlling the apparatus (5). The steering system further includes a steering wheel angle sensor (6) and a steering wheel angle ECU (23), which are integrated. The steering wheel angle sensor (6) detects a steering wheel angle of a steering wheel (2). The ECU (23) calculates an estimation value of the steering wheel angle of the steering wheel (2) and compare between the estimation value and the detected value of the steering wheel angle. Thereby, the ECU (23) performs a process of determining detection accuracy of the steering wheel angle sensor (6).
