To provide a steering apparatus for a vehicle capable of reducing the torque capacity of a clutch and shortening the dimension of the vehicle longitudinal direction of a steering unit.
The steering unit A having a steering wheel 1 and a steered unit B turning steered wheels 22, 22 are mechanically separable. The steering apparatus for the vehicle is equipped with a cable type column 10 mechanically connecting the steering unit A and the steered unit B, a clutch 6 which connects or separates the cable type column 10. The steering apparatus for the vehicle is equipped with a reaction side gear 4 which is disposed on a rotation axis between the steering unit A and the clutch 6, and increases the speed of the output rotation to the clutch 6, and a steered side gear 8 which is disposed on the rotation axis between the clutch 6 and the steered unit B, and decreases the speed of the output rotation to the steered unit B.
