Title:
VEHICLE SURROUNDINGS MONITORING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3803541
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surroundings monitoring device that excels in short-distance ranging performance and can provide the driver with accurate information.
SOLUTION: A radar 1 including a transmitting antenna 2 and a receiving antenna 3 is fixed to a mirror holder 8 as a support member integrated with a rearview mirror 7. Even when a driver changes the direction of vision of the rearview mirror 7, the relative positional relation and distance between the transmitting and receiving antennas 2 and 3 and the rearview mirror 7 are continuously constant. Although a transmitted wave radiated from the transmitting antenna 2 is partly reflected by the rearview mirror 7, the reflected wave can be canceled in a signal processing circuit part 5 via preliminary measurement of reflected waves by the rearview mirror 7. The reflected wave of the transmitted wave by the rearview mirror 7 is prevented from being received erroneously as a reflected wave by an object present in a very short distance range about the vehicle, with the results that short-distance ranging performance can be improved and a false alarm can be prevented.
