Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel crystal of hydroxygallium phthalocyanine, a photoconductive material comprising the crystal, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor having excellent electrophotographic properties.
CONSTITUTION: The objective crystal gives an X-ray diffraction spectrum having intense diffraction peaks at Bragg angles (2θ±0.2°) of: (i) 7.5°, 9.9°, 12.5°, 16.3°, 18.6°, 25.1°, and 28.3°; (ii) 7.7°, 16.5°, 25.1°, and 26.6°; (iii) 7.9°, 16.5°, 24.4°, and 27.6°; (iv) 7.0°, 7.5°, 10.5°, 11.7°, 12.7°, 17.3°, 18.1°, 24.5°, 26.2°, and 27.1°; (v) 6.8°, 12.8°, 15.8°, and 26.0°; or (vi) 7.4°, 9.9°, 25.0°, 26.2°, and 28.2°. The objective photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer comprising the crystal as a photoconductive material. Preferred binder resins for the layer include a poly(vinyl acetal) resin, a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer, a phenoxy resin, and a polyester resin of a modified ether type.
