To suppress giving incompatible feeling that traveling speed is not kept at target speed to an occupant immediately after switching on a set switch, in a cruise control device.
The traveling control device of a vehicle includes a vehicle speed sensor 6 detecting the traveling speed of the vehicle; a target speed setting portion 15a setting the traveling speed at switching-on operation detected by the vehicle speed sensor 6 as the target speed of the vehicle when the set switch 3d is switched on during traveling of the vehicle; and an acceleration/deceleration controlling portion 15b accelerating/decelerating the vehicle so as to keep the traveling speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor 6 at the target speed. The traveling control device of the vehicle is also provided with a speed meter 11 indicating the traveling speed of the vehicle, and a speed display controlling portion 17a controlling the speed meter 11. Until predetermined time includes passed since the set switch 3d is switched on, the target speed is indicated as the traveling speed of the vehicle in the speed meter 11.
