Title:
VEHICLE WITH OPTICAL SCANNER FOR ONE-SIDE ROAD AREA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2853025
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the doze alarm to the driver of a vehicle and to automatically maintain the vehicle in a traffic lane by providing an evaluation unit for calculating elapsed time, deciding contrasts, and recognizing outlines from data supplied from a scanner.
SOLUTION: The infrared scanning system of an optical scanner 2 can measure elapsed time and contrasts based on infrared scanning with a plurality of beams of light by means of an evaluating unit and can recognize the outline of a road in accordance with the principle of triangulation. Namely, the infrared scanning system detects a white traffic lane mark 5 which sets the right-side boundary of the running traffic lane 15 of a vehicle 1. The scanning system further recognizes the geometric outline of a road area 4 to be scanned from scanning signals by utilizing the principle of triangulation. Therefore, the doze alarm to the driver of the vehicle can be improved and the vehicle can be maintained automatically in the traffic lane.
