VEHICULAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH ABNORMALITY DETECTION DEVICE AND ABNORMALITY DETECTION METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To improve the durability of a transmission as well as the reliability thereof by providing a backup solenoid valve drive control section for making judgement as to whether or not an abnormality is attributable to an electrical system failure, on the basis of voltage applied to a solenoid valve, when the valve identifies the existence of an error, and selecting a solenoid valve group system for use.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of solenoid valves are formed out of the first and second system solenoid valve groups, and a control means selects one of the groups for use. An abnormality detection device 31 detects a gear change status via a gear change detection means 36 and an abnormality judgement means 32 makes judgement about the abnormality of the solenoid valves, on the basis of information from the means 36 and the comparison of control instruction signals to the solenoid valves. Also, a failure cause judgement means 34 makes judgement as to whether the abnormality is attributable to an electrical system failure, based on voltage applied to each terminal of the solenoid valves, when the means 32 identifies the abnormalitiy. When the failure cause of the solenoid valves is identified, a backup solenoid valve drive control section 35 selects and backs up the system of the solenoid valve groups. Thus, the durability of a transmission as well as the reliability thereof can be improved.
