To provide a vehicular brake assist device capable of avoiding the collision with a forward obstacle when a driver performs the braking operation even if the relative speed to the forward obstacle is high.
The prediction time of collision to the collision timing between the own vehicle and a forward obstacle is calculated. When the prediction time of collision is below the brake assist reference time which is set to be longer as the relative speed is higher in a range of high relative speed, the brake assist control is started. Thus, as the relative speed is higher, the brake assist control is started at the earlier timing, and by performing not the strong but quick braking operation but the normal braking operation by a driver, the braking force necessary for avoiding the collision with the forward obstacle can be generated.
